Usage

Telescope surfaces the same report in five places. Pick whichever suits your editors; you do not have to use them all.

The Analytics field

Create a new field of type Analytics and add it to any entry type’s field layout. It renders the full report — overview cards, the timeline chart, and breakdowns by location, traffic source, referring page and landing page — for whatever element it is attached to.

The field stores nothing. Adding or removing it never touches your content tables, and there is no data to migrate if you change your mind.

The entry sidebar, with no field layout changes

If you do not want to edit field layouts at all, turn on Show on all entries in the settings. Every entry then gets a compact analytics summary in its sidebar, optionally limited to chosen sections via Limited to sections.

The sidebar panel is skipped for entries that have no public URL — there is no page path to ask GA4 about.

The Telescope section

Telescope adds its own item to the control panel navigation. The Overview page lists the property’s most-viewed pages, filterable by site and period, which is the quickest way to see what is doing well across the whole site rather than one entry at a time.

The dashboard widget

Add the Top pages widget to the Craft dashboard for the same list in miniature. The number of rows is configurable per widget, defaulting to the plugin’s Widget rows setting.

The print view

Every report has a print view: a clean, standalone page an editor can export to PDF from the browser and hand to a client. There is no PDF library involved and nothing to install — it is a print-optimised control panel route.

Choosing a period

Reports open on the Default period from the settings (Last 28 days out of the box) and can be switched from a dropdown:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 14 days
  • Last 28 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days
  • Last 365 days
  • All time

The default period setting also accepts a raw GA4 date such as 90daysAgo or 2026-01-01 if none of the presets is the one you want.

Editors need a permission

None of the above is visible to a user without the View analytics reports permission. See Permissions.
